A CHARITY SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE

‘I’m still me and I still need you’ is a short film about inclusion and the importance of supporting someone who identifies as being a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The KDYS, with support from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth under the LGBTQ+ Community Services fund 2020, premiered their film, ‘I’m still me and I still need you,’ on Wednesday 15th September 2021 during an on-line event.

The film, which was completely devised and produced by a group of young people, stresses the importance of giving to support to people who choose to announce that they are members of the LGBTQ+ community. The film was made over a number of weeks and the group were assisted by a local film maker.

All members of the group are members of the LGBTQ+ community and they came up with the idea of making the film themselves as they felt young people need support from their parents/care-givers when they decide to come out to them. The group met almost entirely on-line which presented challenges but didn’t hinder the group in any way.

This project was supported by the LGBTQ+ Community Services Fund 2020 through the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
